NOTE: this is unfinished because I am a lazy ass. :D
Hay guyz. XD Guess who is back from JAPAN? I wanted to type this up the day I came back but I needed alot of sleep, I'm still jetlagged. It wasn't bad on the way over, worse coming back. anyway, I'll try to remember what I can of funny details and things that happened. :D
Okay lets see. day 1, friday, April 14th. We went over to school to meet everyone for going to the airport. Not much went on there.. Kelly was late. At the airport we stop at a Panini Express near our gate for some food before we leave. I get lemon gelato.. it was more sherbert than gelato though. :| Our plane is a nice big 747, (JAL) although the pokemon plane would have been cooler. We're in line to board shortly after and I see Kelly asking Narima to sit next to her. So I'm like "Oh hey Kelly can I sit next to you? :D" Uh. this really hurt. she was like "Oh.... I don't know.. uh. I don't really care. I asked her a few more times and she was just as rude about it. :| That pissed me off. I had bad memories of elementary and middle school and the whole "I'm only HER best friend!" bullshit. I was like ready to cry.
Anyway we get on the plane, my seat isn't next to anyone I know.. Nick's mother suggests I sit next to them though, which was nice, so the man next to them kindly moves. ^^ Sitting next to Nick for 14 hours was, as you can imagine if you know him, hilarious. I had a great time. XD JAL has such great footroom and amenities. We even got the crappy in flight games like what you'd usually only get in business class. Nick and I spend most of our time playing those and making fun of them. :B There was one called "Memophant's Memory Game" with a creepy cartoon elephant mascot. We play that a bit, and I figure out how to make it have bugs too. xD Memophant becomes our new version of "winker". Uh. It's kind of hard to explain, basically he becomes an inside joke. The other game we play most is Reversi (also called othello). We played for a while and kept getting creamed by the computer, so we make it our mission to beat it sometime. ...Shortly after that I beat it. x3
The stewardess passes out some funky waterbottles called "Naya". We're easily entertained by Nick turning on the little spot light and saying "HOLY NAYA". (you get it right? D: ) Uhm lets see. I try to sleep but I just can't get comfy. Food comes around, they had 2 choices, some weird beef or strange curry shrimp. I decide I want the beef please. Sadly, by the time the food reaches us they only have the shrimp left. I poke at the rice.. somehow they even managed to make plain white rice taste gross. I had NO idea this was even possible. I turn to my last hope. Chocolate pudding. Oh man. I was seriously dissapointed, it tasted gross as well. Nick and I run out of things to make fun of so we watch a movie. We both watch the polar bear documentary (in japanese only sadly)about 4 times, then (reluctantly on my part) begin to watch Memoirs of a Geisha. If you remember when this movie first came out I was boycotting it. I decided to watch it though. It was pretty crappy. On the rest of the flight we amuse ourselves with the interesting camera they seem to have put on the bottom of the plane. We watch that channel and comment as we go over the Hudson Bay and northern Canada. Nick points out a few ravines and says: "Memophant lives there." I don't know why it was so amusing but it was. Come on, we were BORED. Eventually we get more gross food. I don't eat it. Not much more to talk about on the ride.
We get to Narita and literally fly through customs and immigration, we hardly had t owait at all. By the time we get to the baggage, our suitcases had beaten us there. :D That was really awesome. Sensei groups us and gives us 30 minutes to buy stuff. I get a .. what is it called? Jumbo cone? Giant cone? whatever, it's basically Japan's answer to the "King Cone" icecream we have. (Although, the king cone is better.) Oh joy, we get to go on an hour bus ride to the hotel now. More boredom. I listen to my ipod.
Our hotel (Radisson Miyako Tokyo), is not as large as the prince (thank god), but is right down the road from it in Shinagawa. The lobby smells vaguely of cigarettes. We basically get our room keys, drop our suitcases, set our clocks, and try to sleep. I room with Narima and Kelly, we decide to go down to see if they have any liquid soap at the stores in the hotel. (we only got bars, which I hate)There uh.. isn't much at the shop. They do, however, have icecream. (my favorite junkfood ever.) So I get a Hagen Daas "Dulche de Leche". back up to the room I keep asking myself just exactly what the hell "Dulche de Leche" is. I have a shower and open it up and find out it's caramel. :D Good choice. Although it sort of turned to soup by the time I finished in the bathroom. It was still delicious though.
Man the first day was exhausting. I won't go into that much detail for the rest of the days since I don't want this to be a novel, nor do I remember everthing (YEAH I HAVE A BAD MEMORY.)
Anyway I think on the second day.. hm. It was Saturday? We take a bus "tour" around tokyo with Sensei as the commentator. We visit the Imperial Palace (as close as you can go at least) in a bit of rain. Where did we go next? man I have no idea.. oh wait. was it sunday? Anyway I'll skip to the next thing I remember.
We pile into a bus to go to Harajuku, and we walk to Takeshita Street. Let me say one thing. This is the BEST street in the entire world. Oh god it was awesome. I walk down almost the whole street and find this one stair case with Miyavi posters on the wall.. I walk up (they were pretty grungy stairs..)and enter the best shop I have ever been to. :DD they have posters and keychains of lots of my favorite jrock bands~ I get 2 Miyavi photos, and an AnCafe poster (wagamama Koushinkyoku outfits). The guy there was really nice, we communicated through a series of gestures and nods. :D I kind of didn't know how to order posters at first so I tried to take them off to show him (yes I am a dumbass, alright? D:) and he comes over shaking his hand to tell me to stop. Apparently they have little numbers on them which you write down on paper and give them. Oh. Okay. I see now. :x I apologized alot. He was nice though. ^^;; I go back to see what other stores I can find but there aren't many. I do stop at the book off right next to Takeshita street and browse their cd collection. I find Hide Best Collection. :DD I, of course, buy it. They wrap it so nicely, it takes the cashier a few minutes to finish it ^^;; Anyway I run into Sonikuu on the way back up Takeshita and ask him if he'd like to come with me to the shop I found (Apparently I learned later that its name is Closet Child.) So we go back up and there are some girls in there, including some other Gaijin, whom I was too shy to talk to. Sonikuu finds some awesome gloomy bear trading keychains and buys 1. I explore the shop a bit more closely and stumble upon a wall of Hide merchandise. Oh man. I grab the 5 inch plush I wanted to get on ebay (30 bucks at ebay) for 10 bucks. Oh hell yes :D I can't remember what else I snagged here, if anything..
Oh man this is gonna take a while. I'll edit this up when I get more unlazy and add the rest of the week and some photos for reference. ^^
